Yes — free entry with a free ticket. The day is filled with free live music and activities, with food and drink available for purchase. We ask you to RSVP so we can plan enough snags, drinks, and space for everyone.

Everyone! It's not just for Australians — expats, their American partners and kids, and curious locals are all welcome for a free day of Australia in New York.

Can I come on my own?

Yes, of course! Loads of people come solo — it's one of the easiest ways to meet other Aussies and make new mates. There are dedicated spots to say hello, and the crew will happily help you find your people.

Where exactly is it?

Rockefeller Park in Battery Park City, on the Hudson River waterfront in Lower Manhattan. Look for the Aussie flags and bunting — you won't miss us.

How do I get there?

Closest trains are the 1 to Chambers St or the E to World Trade Center, then a short walk toward the river. The NYC Ferry to Battery Park City (Vesey St) also stops right by the park. There's limited street parking, so transit or the ferry is easiest.

Is it family-friendly?

Absolutely. Kids are welcome and there's a kids' corner, lawn games, and plenty of room to run around. Alcohol is available but it's a backyard-barbecue vibe, not a party.

What food and drink is there?

The classic sausage sizzle — snags on white bread — plus Aussie eats, and a bar with beer, wine, and gin & tonics for the grown-ups. All food and drink is available to buy on the day — card and Apple Pay only, no cash needed.

What should I bring?

A picnic rug, sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle. You're welcome to BYO a picnic and non-alcoholic drinks, and bring a card for the food and drink stalls (card and Apple Pay only).

Can I bring my own food and drink?

Yes to a picnic — BYO food and non-alcoholic drinks are welcome. You can't bring your own alcohol, but the bar sells Aussie beer and wine, plus there are snags and Aussie eats for sale on the day.

Do I have to stay the whole day?

Not at all — pop in and out whenever suits you. The sausage sizzle, bar, and games run all afternoon from 12–5pm.

Can I volunteer?

Yes! The BBQ is run by volunteers — Officials, Captains, and Crew. If you'd like to lend a hand on the day, get in touch through the Get involved page.
